…Says restructuring should focus more on economic devolution by states
…Nigeria is not a mistake
…..Diversity is a blessing not a curse we have turned it into
President of the African Development Bank,Professor Akinwunmi Adesina, has said that Nigerias diversity was mismanaged over the years by successive leaders instead of being an advantage .
According to him,God loves Nigeria adding that Nigeria is not a mistake saying the diversities should be managed for advantage.
Speaking yesterday at the 8th public lecture to mark the 80th birthday of General Overseer of the Redeemed Christain Church of God,he regretted that over the years the diversity of the country has been mismanaged resulting in it’s underdevelopment.
In the calls for Restructuring,he said that it should be more of economic restructuring to make the states more economically viable through devolution of economic powers to make the states more viable entities.
According to him, resources for each state should belong to them adding that viability of a national identity involves developing and devolving power to the states.
By doing this hẹ said “the National union will become fully participatory as the states be the fulcrum of the country” .
As for him,the diversity of the country should be managed in such a way that merit should be the watchword of the management of the country and not autocracy as it is being done now.
Adesinas who envisioned a new Nigeria said economic powers should be transferred to the youths to seve as the engine of growth of a new Nigeria for enterpreneural development.
Said he,”Youths must be able to unite and unleash their potentials for a better country.Renew your minds for a better future for a new Nigeria.Pull down walks of fear.we could build a new Nigeria where everyone will be respected for being a Nigerian”.
