Agbodo, ijoko, Lambe road
Roads in the Agbado axis of Ogun State are in a total state of disrepair. This has for some years now subjected those inhabiting the area and its environs to unbearable pain.
Few years ago, there was an effort towards fixing the roads, specifically from Agbado inward Lembe/Ijoko, Ogba Ayo, to link Sango. In what looked like pointed attempt by the authorities to reconstruct the impassable road, heavy earth-moving mechiery was rolled out, landed property along both sides of the road leading from Agbado to Lembe/Ijoko got demolished to make way for expansion.
However, work stopped with the gradual removal of the tractors, bulldozers and other equipment from the site, which had been worsened by abandoned reconstruction activities.
Our reporter who recently visited the area, observed that the portion of the road, stretching from Agbado to Lembe/Ijoko-Ogba-Ayo and Robiyan has completely collapsed such that vehicles plying the axis embark on series of diversions to avoid running into highly flooded points or get stuck in the muds and loggy spots.
As many car owners have resorted to parking their vehicles at home and struggle to board commercial buses for fear of exposing their cars to incessant damages occasioned by the bad roads, the commercial vehicle operators capitalise on the situation to charge cut-throat fares from computers.
Due to the deplorable condition of the roads, distances that used to attract fares ranging from =N=100.00, =N=150.00, to =N=200.00 have increased by more than 100%, making life for the residents unbearable.
Cost of goods and services continue to rise in the area as shipment of edibles and other commodities from anywhere outside is stalled by the road situation.
Residents who responded to our Reporter’s poser on the road, were in unison on their position, as they pleaded with the Ogun State and Federal governments to urgently come to their aid and fix the failed roads.
They also stated that only God could make the powers-that-be to consider coming to their rescue since they appeared not to be interested in addressing the debilitating condition of the roads.
