….Found inside sack
Vigilant members of Makoko,a fishing community in Lagos have arrested two teenage kidnappers over kidnapped of an eight month old baby.
The baby was found inside a sack found with them as they made attempt to escape.
The incident brought to a climax various cases of kidnap on the area since last year.
The teenage kidnappers according to chief Adetayo Kehinde ,Ajiroba of Makoko,the suspects who were 14 and 15 years old respectively, when interrogated as a result of their suspicious movements said they came to pick scrap metals in the community
But when the bag which they carried was searched,an eight months old baby girl was found in the sack.
When interrogated by some members of the community,they confessed they live in Egun community in nearby Iwaya, a surburb of Yaba, Lagos mainland.
He said the two suspects were later handed over to the Lagos police at Adekunle police station from where the case has reportedly been transfered to Panti Criminal investigation Department.
The Makoko chief said the community has been experiencing kidnapping in the past one year.
He told Newdawnngr on phone that last year alone two cases of missing children between ages of 2and 3 years old living on Ramotu street with their parents remain unresolved.
Besides,he disclosed that recently,the eight years old daughter of a deaf and dumb was found missing at Apollo street in the community and yet to be found till date.
When contacted on the issue,the Police public relations officer,Adekunle Ajisebutu ,did not reply to the text message sent to him neither did he picked his call .
