The National Broadcasting Commission Thursday evening released the duo of Chamberlain Usoh and Kayode Okikiolu, both presenters of the popular Television show, Sunrise after hours of interrogation.
The NBC, via a letter signed by the Director General, Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, had queried Channels Television Station over an interview conducted with the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom.
Ortom, in his interview had accused President Muhammadu Buhari of attempt to “Fulanise” Nigeria.
He had said during the interview, “Mr President is pushing me to think that what they say about him, that he has a hidden agenda in this country is true because it is very clear that he wants to fulanise but he is not the first Fulani president.
“Shagari was a Fulani President, Yar’ Adua was a Fulani President and they were the best in the history. But President Buhari is the worst president when it comes to issues of security and keeping his promises.
The NBC had accused Channels anchors of violating some of the regulations over broadcasting and wanted to know why they should not be sanctioned.
Details of the interrogation were not available at press time. NPO Reports gathered that the two anchors who were accompanied to the NBC office by other staff of the organisation only made straight for the bus which had brought them to the commission.
They however exchanged pleasantries with some activities led by the leader of teh Revolution Now movement, Omoyele Sowore who had gathered in front of the NBC office to monitor what would happen to the reporters.
