The People’s Democratic Party on Thursday got a new interim chairman in person of Chief Yemi Akinwonmi.
His position was announced and approved after a meeting which lasted for about two hours in Abuja on Thursday.
Akinwonmi was the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the party.
He conveyed a meeting of the National Working Committee of the party on Tuesday after a Rivers State court stopped Prince Uche Secondus from
Parading himself as chairman of the party.
It will be recalled that Deputy National Chairman (North) Suleman Nazif had laid claim to the same position on Tuesday and indeed also conveyed a meeting of the party on the grounds that Akinwonmi had not attended NWC meeting in more than one year.
But the governors who met on Thursday agreed that the constitution of the party be followed and allow Akinwonmi assume position as interim party chairman.
Jola Ologbodiyan PDP spokesman said the party has resolved its internal problems and moved on.
