The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, has invoked Section 35(b) of the party’s constitution to declare himself as the new helmsman of the party.
Akinwonmi said on Tuesday he has taken over the affairs of the party after a court in Rivers State on Monday asked the embattled National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, to stop parading himself as the party chairman.
He said Section 35 (b) of the PDP Constitution empowers him to act in the same way while also suspending the National Working Committee meeting of the party indefinitely.
