The member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Chinedu Emeka Martin who sponsored a Bill to jail protesters for five years have written to Speaker of the House, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, seeking to withdraw the Bill.

According to him,the Bill which seeks to amend the Criminal Code Act Cap 38,Laws of the Federation 1990 and which have passed it’s final reading has been misconstrued and now generating controversy throughout the country.
He said this is done through the wrong narrative given it by Nigerians.
Hon Martin’s said his motive was to prevent untimely death of innocent Nigerians through mob action normally associated with protests.
He said as a democrat after due consultation with his constituency he wanted the Bill withdrawn forthwith.
