Osun civil servants now to wear ‘Adire’

There are moves by the Osun State Government to adopt the popular Yoruba fabric Adire as it’s official dress.
Towards this end ,the state government has commenced moves to produce the popular local fabric, in the state.

Hence, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, said it “has become compulsory henceforth, for all the public and civil servants to wear Adire same day.”

A statement made available to on Sunday by Chief Press Secretary to Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan, said the order is to ensure the quick actualization of the objective of making Osun the hub of Adire production.

The state government, under its former Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, had adopted Adire as school uniform for public schools as part of his administration’s efforts to boost local production.

 

“The initiative is in furtherance of the Administration’s efforts to preserve and promote the production of Adire Osun as well as bolster the image of Osun as a culturally correct and indigenous product inclined State,” the statement added.

 

It explained that the State Government has partnered with Musty Great Development and Alexandria Jones Couture, U.S.A., to organise the International Fashion Week, for the promotion of Osun brand of Adire (Adire Eleko) for Global exhibition.
