A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Osun Command, Mrs Omoyemi Ojo, on Monday in Osogbo, said the fire incident occurred on Sunday evening.

Ojo said the command received an emergency call about the fire from one Tunde Balogun at about 5:38 p.m.

She said preliminary investigations indicated that an electrical surge was suspected to have caused the fire.

According to her, on arrival at the scene, firefighters discovered that the fire was confined to the kitchen and basement of a five-bedroom duplex used for residential purposes.

Ojo said the fire was brought under control with support from the Osun Fire Service, adding that no casualty was recorded.

She said property estimated at N200 million was, however, saved from the inferno. (NAN)
