Yet, another INEC office set ablaze in Imo

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said its office in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State was set ablaze on Sunday.

It is the latest attack in a string of attacks on the Commission’s offices- something the INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu last week called a National emergency.

In a statement on Sunday, INEC’s National Commissioner Festus Okoye ,said although no life was lost, the building was substantially burnt down, along with electoral materials, office equipment and furniture.

Mr Okoye goes on to say the attack is coming exactly a week after its office in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of the State was vandalized on Sunday the twenty third of May twenty-twenty one.

It is also the eighth INEC office to be attacked in Imo State since the twenty nineteen General Election.

The total number of INEC offices attacked nationwide since twenty nineteen has now risen to Forty two.
