The programme, which holds at the Ifako-Ijaiye mini-stadium started about a month ago, and would run for a total of eight weeks. It is a partnership between Hon Hamzat and a medical foundation, Road 2 Recovery Rehabilitation Clinic (WAKA2CURE).
According to the media officer of Hon. Hamzat, Mr Lateef Salaam, the programme is targeted at children with cerebral palsy, and senior citizens with arthritis, lumbago, and bone related diseases. He added that WAKA2CURE provides the services in its community outreaches, whereby, it jointly bears the costs with local partners like Hon. Hamzat.
Hundreds of patients throng Ifako-Ijaiye mini-stadium for tests and treatment daily, since the programme started some weeks ago. Beneficiaries enjoy treatment by specialist doctors and physiotherapists, who are using hi-tech equipment for diagnosis and therapy.
A delighted Hon. Hamzat, who is running for the office of Chairman of the Ifako-Ijaiye local government in the forth-coming council elections, on the platform of the APC, called for greater emphasis for the vulnerable demographics in our health care delivery system. He promised to make health care one of his priority programmes, if elected.
The APC local council primaries would hold on May 29, 2021, and Hamzat is considered a front runner because of his antecedents as a performer.
