My dear Lagosians,
Our party leaders and elders,
Our Party faithfuls,
Volunteer Groups across the State,
Gentlemen of the press,
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,
Good evening to you all, and welcome to this very special ocassion – the Manifesto Launch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and his running mate, Mrs. Damilola Sonayon-James, in the 2027 General Elections.
This is the day the Lord has made; and we will rejoice and be glad in it. Let me begin my address by giving gratitude to the Almighty God for a historical day like this in our poltical history as a people, a state, and a nation.
I say All Glory be unto You Our Father in Heaven. I worship and honour your holy name, our God and creator. Since my eleection as the 15th Governor of Lagos State, today is one of my happiest days.
I cannot contain my happiness because because Lagos State is at the centre of history under my watch as Governor. The excellent and smooth political leadership transition today’s event heralds is priceless.
In fact, it is a valid tastement not just to the popularity of our party in Lagos State, but more importantly, to the sagacity of party leaders and elders, starting from our political forebearer, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the APC Lagos State Party chairman and executive members, community, religious and traditional leaders.
our state is about the witness.
In Lagos State, today is a special day, and this oaccsion is momentous. This gathering is more than a Manifesto Launch. It is another decisive moment for our state, Lagos.
Today.
This occasion.
This moment presents us with yet another opportunity to reflect on the vision and sagacity of our leader, and political forebearer, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR.

Today, I will start my address very differently because of the depth of my joy and

“Today is not for protocols, because we are again at another defining moment in our political history. The campaign that heralds the election of who succeeds me as the governor of Lagos State will start today, and this baton in my hand (he waves a baton that is neatly painted in the colours of Lagos State), this symbol of continuity will be handed over to someone on May 29th, 2027, when my tenure finally ends as the governor of our great State, Lagos.

Like any great athlete, my focus is on who will cover the ground ahead immediately. I have personally identified you – Femi – as a worthy successor, who posses the energy, skills, metality, temprament and experience, to sustain the successes Lagos State has consistently recorded.
For close to eight years now, we steered the ship of this state together, and on some ocassions, you cruised alone when exigencies of the job took me out of the state. You acted decently, cleverly and comptently. Femi, you know that I am surprised not about your excellent performance, brilliant contributions, and devotion to Lagos State.
ActualIy, I would not have expected less. We joined this political family of the progressive the same time. We became friends, and turned brothers – some twenty-one years ago, before fate made us co-travellers on the journey of leading Lagos today. Femi, I know that you are brilliant, hardworking, depdendable, caring, loyal and perform outstandingly well as Governor.
This baton in my hand (He waves the baton again) by the grace of the Almighty God will be handed over to you at the end of my tenure on May 29, 2027, for you to continue our shared dreams and journey on the continued development of Lagos State.
Our party, leaders and elders have seen the great qualities you posses and capacity to sustain the growth of Lagos State, which commenced when our father and leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR, was the Governor of our beloved State.
Succesive governors since then – Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and I, have not only sustained that pace of development in infrastructure, economy, social security, education, healthcare, transportation, rule of law, and in other important areas in Lagos State, but have also innovatively introduced modernity to governance in our State.
Femi, as I fondly call you because of our brotherly relationship, graciously step forward, to present your manifesto to Lagosians. Let Lagosians see why our leaders, elders, party and I are confident in your ability to sustain the development of Lagos State when you are elected Governor in the coming elections by the grace of God”.
