Federal Government has given an indication that it would spend the £4.2m expected to be returned from the United Kingdom government on the ongoing work on the 2nd Niger Bridge, Abuja-Kano road, and Lagos-Ibadan Express road projects.
The said fund, it will be recalled, was seized from friends and family members of the then governor of Delta State, James Ibori.
Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), gave this indication Tuesday in Abuja during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both countries.
He stressed that the recovery of the stolen fund is part of the efforts of the current administration to fight corruption.
Based on the agreement signed, the £4.2million is to be returned two weeks from now.
Earlier, the British High Commissioner in Nigeria, Catriona Laing, who announce the return of the fund, had said her home government was repatriating the money to Nigeria as part of process to cementing trust between both countries.
Laing at the signing of the MoU at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Justice said the money was recovered from friends and family members of the former governor.
She lamented that many Nigerians were in the habit of siphoning money from the country to the UK, saying that has also affected the level of trust between the two countries.
Laing however warned that the UK will no longer be used as a destination for looters to siphon proceeds of crimes.
