…..Shuts popular Olaiya Junction for nine months
Osun Governor Gboyega Oyetola is set to turn the sod of a flyover at the popular Olaiya Junction Osogbo, the state capital Thursday.
To give way for seamless exercise, the state Government announced a total shut down of the road for nine months for the construction project.
There have been arguments over the need for the flyover as some argued that Olaiya Junction though a major heart of the city, has not posed major traffic complications to the residents.
But the government has argued that it does not have to wait till complications come to take actions.
When constructed, it will be the third flyover in the city.
The first two are located at the Osogbo-Gbongan Road along the Oba Adesoji Aderemi Second Bypass which is called November 27 Bridge.
The second one is on the same route and named Five Judges.
It will be recalled that the Rauf Aregbesola administration had redesigned the Olaiya Junction after which an old church and a popular petrol station were pulled down to expand the area for better traffic control.
The Oyetola administration said the new flyover will further enhance the beauty of the area and ease traffic.
