Lagos State Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the release of popular internet comedian Debo Adebayo (also known as Mr. Macaroni) and others arrested over the protests at the Lekki Tollgate plaza Saturday.
Macaroni was picked up after he showed up for the protests even before the protests could take off .
He was whisked away in a police van.
Others who were arrested were released.
It was learnt that the order was sequel to talks between the police hierarchy and the comedian and others on the need to give peace a chance and avert possible infiltration by hoodlums.
However, as at 6:20pm on Saturday Macaroni and others were still being held at the Panti area and according to one of the EndSARS promoters Rinu Oduala they were being arraigned in a mobile court.
She said human rights lawyer Femi Falana, had sent lawyers to the scene for adequate legal representation.
