The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr Fatai Tijani, has expressed readiness to join the Agege Molebi United Forum (AMUF) in support of community development and security initiatives in Agege.

He spoke during a courtesy visit by members of the association to his office at the Command Headquarters on Friday in Ikeja.

Tijani pledged support for the activities and programmes of AMUF, stressing that security remained a collective responsibility requiring support from all stakeholders.

The pioneer president of the forum, Dr Tajudeen Abiodun, said the visit was to felicitate with Tijani, noting that his appointment reflected “outstanding service to the nation.”

Mr Afolabi, an adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, explained that AMUF comprised individuals with strong roots and family ties in Agege community.

He said the forum was initiated in 2014 by ACP Yinka Egbeyemi to promote unity, development and community service among members.

He described Egbeyemi as “a highly respected personality,” while commending his commitment to the development of Agege and the steady growth of the forum.

Afolabi highlighted AMUF’s interventions, including anti-electoral violence campaigns, advocacy against drug abuse, prison outreach and distribution of school supplies to pupils.

He added that the forum had also provided relief materials and food support to vulnerable residents as part of its humanitarian activities in the community.

He disclosed plans for an educational project for primary school pupils in Agege, showing the forum’s commitment to youth empowerment and education.

During the visit, AMUF conferred automatic membership on Tijani and presented him with an award recognising his career achievements and dedication to security.

Responding, Tijani accepted the membership, saying: “The love of your people makes them associate with you.”

He recalled growing up in Agege with Afolabi and acknowledged the role played by Egbeyemi in shaping and sustaining the forum.

“Your root is your root, everywhere I go, they know I am from Agege,” Tijani affirmed.
