Blood flows in Lagos as NURTW factions fights for control of motor park

Guns, Cutlasses were on full display as rival unions of the local transport workers went to war in the early hours of Thursday at the Obalende, Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

Shops owners, motorists, passers-by had to run for their lives as the stern-looking fighters on both sides of the rival groups fought to finish.

They were brandishing dangerous weapons as each side dared the other to come forward for bloody engagements.
Investigation s revealed that the fight broke out as a result of the control of the motor park situated at the popular Obalende area.

This could not be verified as at the time of filing this report.

From the Ministry of Communications old Post and Telecoms building towards the Kam Salem House, former headquarters of the Nigerian Police, the fighters moved dangerously to attack one another.

Policemen who were near the scene appeared helpless.

Some policemen who were sighted in front of the Kam Salem House only appeared to be interested in securing their office against the invasion of the fighers.

As at the time of filing this report, calm has not been restored.
