…Lagos to Kaduna took us 37 hours!
In a normal situation and where one respect his/her integrity/personality, when you fail in whatever you are doing, you resign honourably or better still, walk away and stop gibing unnecessary/baseless excuses that you are handicapped.
In 2014 ,when I first travelled to Kaduna by road, it took me (us) 9 hours. By now,It is supposed to be getting better because of modernisation/civilization but in Nigeria, it is getting horribly worst not everyday but every second.
I left Agege Lagos on Friday 25th September, 2020 at exactly 12.40hours by LANDSTAR Luxury bus – very comfortable, efficient and safe. From their Agege motor park, it took us 2 hours to link Ibadan expressway at Berger because of bad roads.
I didn’t realise that my nightmare was about to start. We got to Ibadan around 16.40 hours and it took us from the Old toll gate to their park through Iwo road 5hours. We got to their park opposite Nigeria Brewery at exactly 21.40 hours because of standstill/go slow occasioned by bad roads. A journey that suppose to be at worst 30-45 minutes took us 5 hours!
We left their park around 22.00hours and was coping/managing our death trap roads until we got close to Kaaba/Obajana junction in Kogi state around 05.15 hours, Saturday 26th September, 2020.
We got hooked up because of bad road/impatient driving by motorists and it took us 13 hours for a trip less than 7 minutes to cross that junction.
Military boys coming from Kaduna, I guess displayed madness, firing relentlessly into the air that made some Police officers with their gun dangling took cover thinking it was an insurgence. They scared/fired their way through, compounded the whole thing and zoomed off.
After a snail styled movement, we crossed that junction around 17.15 hours and finally set on undisturbed area at 18.10 hours. What happened? Nothing than bad road/impatient.
We eventually got to Kaduna at 02.00 hours on Sunday 27th September, 2020.
Abuja/Kaduna road isn’t better either. No wonder bandits, Kidnappers, armed robbers are having field day on that bad/death trap road.
If our Minister of works – Honourable Babatunde Fashola can’t do anything or short of ideas, he should resign. Excuse that funds to fix roads are not released is stupid and untenable. Resign and don’t let anybody rubbish/stain you.
Lagos to Kaduna journey took us 37hours in the 21st century. Unbelievable!!!
