Dapo Thomas on party politics in Nigeria

“What we have today are parties without vision or political objective. This visionlesness of the parties, especially the two dominant parties, PDP and APC, is what is responsible for the fluidity and elasticity in the membership structure. In a saner and a more civilised society where political parties are established on emblematic idealism and institutional political philosophies, these kind of ludicrous defections and ‘chop chop’ mobility can never happen.

It is appalling that only these two political parties mentioned are the only dominate parties in the country. Well let me stop here as I anticipate for tomorrow.

Only those who truly want sincere people to work in the political arena in and for the country can and will share Dr. Dapo Thomas’s view.

Integrity is almost totally absent in most politicians in Nigeria. “Defection” is usually their second drum beat to choose when they can not easily get positions and free money.

Power struggle at the expense of personal integrity and national, state and local government development can never move any place up.

I wonder why Nigeria has not enacted a law that will restraint her politicians from acting the way they do? Within a second, gang-ups and defection!

The truth has just been said, a reform in the ideology and goals of political parties is needed, it should not just be the goal to control and own power but rather the intention to lead rightly, well said sir.
