…Says FG has laid down rules and regulations
Former governor of state of Osun, Chief Bisi Akande, has said that as a former governor of the state, he has no power whatsoever to determine where projects are sited in any part of the state.
Speaking in response to the siege on his Ila -Oragun residence by angry youths from the town Sunday, over the decision of the federal government to site the Federal College of Education in Iwo,he advised the students to always allow government follow its laid down rules and regulations adding that such things are not done without following certain laid down rules and regulations.
The first interim national chairman of the All Progressive Congress ( APC) told Newdawnngr on line through Bade Bolarinwa ,his adviser on media, that though he could offer advice if we was consulted when he could influence decision making , this was not the case in the matter of sitting the new federal college of education.
Said he,”it is unfortunate and unfair to rudely put his house under siege when he was not in any way involved in the decision thus their feelings of entitlement could be excused.
Chief Akande who was first civilian governor of the state between 1999 and 2003,urged the youths not to allow themselves to be misled to wrong actions on matters that has laid out rules and regulations.
It will be recalled that youths from Ila Orangun,the hometown of Chief Akande,Sunday laid siege on his country home over the citing of the new federal college of education in Iwo urging him to use his position with the federal government to influence sitting the school in the ancient town to enable it have federal presence.
However, this was not to be as the FG Monday announced Iwo as the site of the new college which is among the six new federal colleges of created created by the federal government and sited one in each of the six geopolitical zones.
