The Ikeja electric distribution company has given a notice of its intention to begin mass disconnection of estimated bill owners from Monday 11 may.
This was contained in the notice sent to community development association below.
According to it,notice of free electricity supply is only a proposal before national assembly.

APPEAL FOR SETTLEMENT OF BILLS AND NOTICE OF MASS DISCONNECTION EXERCISE*
Dear CDA Chairman,
We believe you are keeping safe during this COVID-19 pandemic, despite the numerous challenges.
Ikeja Electric appreciates your role and contributions as a leader in this community.
We assure you that the company is not relenting in ensuring that we surmount any challenge, to provide reliable supply of electricity.
To sustain these efforts, we are soliciting your support in encouraging your members to settle their bills -current and outstanding.
Contrary to the news making the rounds that the Federal Government has approved the supply of electricity for free, for two months, this was only a proposal by the National Assembly.
There’s no doubt that the lock down has put a strain on the income and earnings of lot of our customers, nonetheless, Ikeja Electric depends on the payment made by customers (outstanding and current charges) to continue providing electricity.
*As a community leader and stakeholder in community advancement initiatives, we seek your support in helping IE disseminate this information to your members as we wish to commence mass disconnection of debtors from the 11th of May 2020.*
