Civil defence chief visits Oba Ogunleye

The Ogun State Commandant of the Nigerian Safety and Civil Defence Corp, Mr. Hammed Abodunrin, paid a courtesy visit to Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, Towulade Akinale at his Palace in Akinale, Monday 27 April, 2020. Commandant Abodunrin commended Oba Ogunleye for his active roles in community development and maintenance of peace and security in his domain.

Mr Abodunrin, who himself an accomplished journalist, said “I am impressed by the reports of officers and men of our Corp in your domain, confirming how you have used your chequered experiences in the Media and Public Relations profession to transform your community to a land of peace, security, social and economic development”.

earlier, Oba Ogunleye had expressed satisfaction on the complimentary services of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp to those provided by the Nigerian Police and other security agencies in the country, adding that the civility with which they execute their services has endeared them to the community in which they serve.

Oba Ogunleye told his visitor that in addition to his conventional roles as custodian of culture and heritage of the land through leadership by example, he encourages the citizens to obey rules and maintain the ” omoluabi” principles which encompass hard work, truthfulness, loyalty to authorities and abhorrence of crime.
The Monarch further intimated his guest of the establishment of a Dispute Resolution Centre in Akinale in compliance with the principles of Alternative Dispute Resolution as a means to settle civil disputes, particularly, land and chieftaincy matters which are common agents of frictions in the area, adding that so far, the exercises have been successful, limiting undue skirmishes and prolonged litigations.
