Ekiti to cater for 73 contacts of new index case on quarantine – Commissioner

The Ekiti State Government has  reiterated it's commitment to cater for the contacts of the new index case who have been advised to be on self quarantined. 

The commissioner for Health and Human Services in Ekiti state Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade made this disclosure while  addressing Journalists at the briefing of the Covid 19 Taskforce committee held at the Conference hall, governor's office  Ado-Ekiti.

Dr. Yaya-Kolade stated that the action was was taken to cater for  those that contacted the new index case in the state who couldn't afford self isolation.

"We  had done  contact tracing of 73 people both primary and secondary contacts who had contact with the new index case in the state and put those of them who couldn't afford self isolation at the newly created government special centre". She said.

The commissioner stated that the state was doing everything  scientifically possible to contain the deadly corona virus .

"Our Disease Infection centre is equipped  with necessary drugs and commodities and hope that the virus would be a thing of the past soon." She stated

In his contribution, the state commissioner for information and Values Orientation, Aare Olumuyiwa Olumilua stressed that the government is on top of the game of curbing the outbreak.

Olumilua noted that the state has embarked on sensitisation of the residents of the state on all media houses and other means to inform them on need to use sanitizers and  regular hand washing as well as to ensure social distancing as recomended by WHO.

In his contribution,  Special Adviser to the governor on security Bri-General Ebenezer Ogundana Rtd noted that all borders leading to the state have been manned with improved security network to ensure that unwanted persons are not allowed into the state.

General Ogundana said that his team has been working with necessary stakeholders especially  the Local Government Chairmen, Kabiyesi and youths to ensure that no unwanted persons enter into their towns and villages without their knowledge.

" I have the honor to inform you that those that were caught in a particular newspaper's Van sneaking into the state from Lagos were arrested and charged to magistrate court for prosecution to serve has deterrent to other culprits ". The security expert disclosed.

Also speaking , the Director General Office of  Transformation and Strategy Prof. Bolaji Aluko said that the government has been given  palliative to the poorest of the poor and as of late started distributing to Associations and individuals identified to cushion the economic effects of the state at home order of government occasioned by the outbreak of Covid 19.

He encouraged individuals and groups that could afford palliatives to support Ekiti state government in this regard so as to put smiles on the faces of the people who have been badly affected by the order.
