The Ekiti Government has disclosed that there was a new index case of Corona virus in the state
The Governor of Ekiti State Dr Kayode Fayemi made the disclosure at a press briefing in his office in Ado- Ekiti.
Dr. Fayemi noted that the index case was a 29 year old pregnant woman who came into Ekiti state from Lagos few days ago.
The Governor further revealed that the patient visited a public health centre and a private hospital where she was later referred to a Federal teaching Hospital because of complications having delevered her of a baby .
The State number one man assured Ekiti residents that all her contacts would be traced and isolated to ensure safety of other residents.
The Government noted that the state has put all necessary machineries in place to ensure that Covid 19 is defeated in the state.
Dr. Fayemi echoed that the current situation in the state may warrant extention of the lockdown in the state to give room for the government to ascertain the status of the contacts.
He reiterated government’s commitment to make welfare of the state residents a priority during the Covid 19 lockdown stressing that the state has started doling out several palliatives in forms of food stuff and conditional cash transfer to cushion the harsh economy brought about by the outbreak of the virus.
He appreciated well spirited Ekiti indigenes who had contributed to the covid 19 Fund Raising Committee purse .
“We appreciate Aare Afe Babalola who donated 100million naira and bags of rice, Asiwaju Wole Olanipekun for pledging a ventilator and a sum of 10 million as well as Sir Remi Omotosho who donated beds and others who had contributed to the fight to end Covid 19 in the state.” He said.
