Rise up, defend your proffession-Alake charges journalists

The Alake of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Gbadebo has urges journalists in the country to rise up and stop the menace of fake news which he said can destroy any country.
“You have the task keeping away all those people who publish anything to satisfy their ends.
The referred traditional ruler spoke at the launch of the Simulated version of first newspaper in Nigeria,Iwe Irohin Fun Awon Ara Egba publish in 1859 by late missionary Henry Townsend and now been republished to mark the 160 years of the first newspaper in Nigeria.
It was published to mark the 6th Annual Conference of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria which held in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
In his own speech,Prince Bola Ajibola,retired judge of the world court at the Hague,who donated his printing press for the production said today is a unique day and a thing of pride that a body like ACSPN can produce such historical document adding,” todays presentation represent a unique chronicle of one of the milestone in Abeokuta, the ancient city.
He said the simulation of the Iwe Irohin, is a unique idea of bringing back what Henry Townsend did to achieve journalistic milestone.
