Former Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has justified the continued detention of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki and the leader of Shi’ites Movement, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky saying that interest of 180 million Nigerians supersede the interest of an individual.
Although, Malami did not mention name of the individuals involved, but apparently he was referring to both Dasuki and El-Zakzaky.
He said, ” I have a responsibility as Attorney General of federation looking at section 174 of the constitution, I want to reiterate that the office is meant to protect public interest and where individual interest conflict.
“The interest of 180 Nigerians must naturally prevail, which is seen in Asari Dokubo. The public interest naturally prevails.”
