Hence forth youth corpers who earn an extra ten thousand bi,- monthly allowance are now to receive half of the amount of the stipends.
The state allowance which is paid to corps members once in two months having being delayed for two weeks was paid to the corpers on Thursday July 18 2019.
As a result corpers who were expecting the usual credit alert of 9800 were last week disappointed as they got a shocker credit alert of 4850 instead of the usual N9800 paid to them and the new reduction even came after a long wait.

The credit alert indicates that the allowance has been reduced from 10,000 naira to 5,000 bi monthly leaving the corps members with a state allowance of 2500 naira per month.
Reacting to the development, a 2018 batch B stream II corp member serving in the state who spoke on the condition of anonymity expressed his displeasure with the state government for not earlier notifying corpers of their plans to reduce the allowance “This is really bad they could not even tell us that they wanted to reduce the money, aside from the fact that the money came in late, most of us would have planned ahead for this money and some of us have even borrowed hoping that we will be receiving the regular 9800,” he said.
“This is the second time they are reducing the state allowance corpers that served in this state back in 2014/2015 were paid 10,000 naira a month before it was reduced and here we are facing another shocker this is really not nice our government officials should please do better because the state rely so much on corpers to run their secondary schools” he further said.
Reason for the reduction remains undisclosed as all effort to reach the state government on the issue of the state allowance has proven futile.
