Dr. Yaya-Kolade appreciated the donor partner for the generous donation promising that the megaphones would be used appropriately and judiciously to disseminate health information to the people. She added that this height of donation was made possible because of the commitment of Dr. Kayode Fayemi to good health of Ekiti people that attracted international donors like WHO.
The Commissioner charged the health officers who would be making use of the equipment to ensure proper usage and to use it for what it is meant for. She said with over 385 megaphones across the 16 LGAs of the state, people at the hard to reach areas would get more health information and sensitisation more than ever before.
Earlier, the World Health Organization consultant Dr.(Mrs) Olufunmilola Kolude said the gesture was as a result of the feedbacks received from the outbreak response for polio in Ekiti where people at the hard to reach areas complained of not getting the health information at the appropriate time.
“The issue of megaphones were conceived as result of noticeable gap in information and sensitisation of people especially people residing at the hard to reach areas of the state”. She noted
Dr Kolude said the donation will help all the transit teams to have a megaphones that would be used to sensitise people at the rural areas for outreach programmes .She said local government areas should ensure that the megaphones are properly used and maintained.
