Niger Delta Media Forum (NDMF), a body of like minds journalists from Niger Delta region is putting finishing touches to its two.-day summit with the theme.:’HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT OF NIGER DELTA BY STAKEHOLDERS: A PANACEA FOR SUSTAINABLE PEACE IN THE REGION’, tentatively scheduled for September 27-28.
The summit is aimed at making a clarion call on sons and daughters of South – South region for a collaborative, cooperative and supportive to making the region great again. In a release signed by its coordinator, Tim Okojie Ave, he appealed to governments and stakeholders in Niger Delta region to come together in respective of political affinity to build a prosperous region we all can be proud of devoid of acrimony and restiveness, a recipe for quick industrialisation and growth.

He said as the life wire of the nation, the region has no business to be poor and backward if all hands are on deck, which he disclosed this summit is out to do. He specially appealed to the governors, multinationals and rich individuals to lend a helping hand to make the event a huge success as journalists don’t have much funds to make it work as planned. Already letters of courtesy visit to the stakeholders are being dispatched and as soon as responses are received, will be followed by visit of the group’s executives. Tracing the pivotal role played by Niger Delta people, he said if not for the son of Niger Delta Chief Anthony Enahoro who first moved the much celebrated motion for Nigeria’s independence which indeed brought out Nigeria from the shackles of dependence and servitude. Saying, we can do it again by coming together around a common humanity for what is best for the region at this critical moment of Nigeria’s history.
