Journalist’s health challenge worsens

Bayelsa State born journalist, Mr. Thomas Peretu, is down with life threatening health challenge.

Peretu who is currently a staff of the Bayelsa State Government disclosed this on his timeline on facebook when he wrote thus, “Health challenges

“This is to inform my dear friends on social media
who probably may have missed my weekly posts,
that i have been in and out of the hospital in the last two weeks as a result of some health complications.

” My health challenges have taken a toll on me.
“I can no longer walk around… as i used to do.
“My eyes have become dim and blurry.
“And my bp (blood pressure) is a source for concern.
“Let me not bore you with the gory details.

“Life is no longer enjoyable as it is.
“But i am determined to fight this battle to the end.
“I shall give it all it takes to live again.
“Indeed, I am not through yet.
“There are too many dreams awaiting my nod.

” Kindly pay attention to your health while you’re well and hearty. It’s all you’ve got
protect it with all your might.

“In the meantime, i need your prayers because man cannot discountence the God factor
in the affairs of men.

“Thank you and God bless you all. I pray, affliction shall not be your portion as you go about your daily life. Amen,” he narrated.

Peretu an active memeber of Bayelsa State chapter of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), is also a law student of Niger Delta University (NDU), Yenogoa.

He started his journalism career at the old Daily Times of Nigeria in the days of Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi as the managing director of the then oldest newspaper in Nigeria. From there he went to work as the head of media for PolyGram Records now Premier Music before a brief stint with Quiency, the herbal slimmer, before relocating to his home State, Bayelsa, at the dawn of partisan politics.

In Bayelsa, he has served as the media aide to the state’s former speaker in the days of President Goodluck Jonathan as the governor of the state.

He also served as a media assistant the Deputy Chief of Staff, Ebizi Ndiomu Brown to the incumbent Governor Seriake Dickson.
