The Management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), under the visionary leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, has expressed profound appreciation to the Department of State Services (DSS) and all other security agencies for their professionalism, commitment, and unwavering efforts that culminated in the successful rescue and safe return of their Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Samuel Okunsebor.
The University received with immense relief the news of Professor Okunsebor’s rescue following his unfortunate abduction by armed men in the early hours of Wednesday at Mile Uku, a boundary community between Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.
Management is particularly grateful to the operatives of the DSS, whose painstaking intelligence-driven operations, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, ensured the Dean’s safe recovery without harm.
The University is pleased to note that no ransom was paid for Professor Okunsebor’s release, while two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. This remarkable outcome underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led security operations and the determination of the security agencies to bring perpetrators of crime to justice.
The University also appreciates the Government of Nasarawa State, members of the University community, traditional rulers, religious leaders, the media, and all well-wishers who stood in solidarity with the institution through prayers, words of encouragement, and other forms of support during the difficult period.

The successful rescue of Professor Okunsebor is a testament to the effectiveness of coordinated security operations and reinforces public confidence in the nation’s security architecture.
The Supervisor of Information and Protocols of the University, Mr. Jafaru Abdullahi Abubakar told Patmos Media Line that Prof Okunsebor who was rescued by security forces at about 3pm yesterday has been reunited with his family but is currently on medical check at the Lafia University Teaching Hospital.
Prof Okunsebor was travelling alone when kidnappers took before on Wednesday in Lafia.
As Professor Okunsebor reunites with his family and receives medical evaluation, the University prays for his complete recovery and looks forward to his return to academic and administrative duties.
The Management reassures members of the University community of its continued commitment to the safety and security of staff and students and will continue to work closely with relevant authorities to strengthen security measures across its campuses.
