The distribution of sensitive materials to various Local Government Areas in Edo are delayed as materials are still being sorted by the Independent National Electoral commission INEC officials as at 10 p.m. on Friday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the sorting of the sensitive materials began at about 8 a.m.on Friday.

Mr Emmanuel Alex-Hart, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), had received the materials at the Central Bank of Bank (CBN) on Thursday from Abuja while the last batch arrived at 2 a.m on Friday morning from Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, agents of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday disagreed over the delay in the sorting of sensitive materials at the CBN.

Mr. Festus Okoebor, an agent of the PDP from the Esan North-East Local Government Area of the state, queried why the sorting of the sensitive materials was not carried out at the state headquarters of INEC.

Okoebor said: “We have been here at the CBN since 8 a.m. When INEC said they were going to sort the materials from CBN which has never happened, I was thinking that it was going to hasten the process.

“But unfortunately, nothing has happened and it only tells me that there will be late arrival of materials at the polling units.

“People came from Local Governments that are very far and they are not even sure when they are leaving.”

Reacting, Mr Victor Enobakhare, an APC agent from the Egor Local Goverment Area, however, disagreed, saying that it was a logistic problem.

Enobakhare said: “The logistics problem is everywhere.

“I believe that the sorting of the materials here at CBN was because of the issue of insecurity and the recent fire incidents that occured in some INEC offices.”(NAN)
