The lingering crisis in the nations tertiary education sector would be resolved by both parties in the next few days, Vice president Yemi Osinbajo has said.
The vice president attributed the delay in resolving the crisis to the fact that the nations income at the time the agreement was signed nine years ago was far more than what obtains now.
He said that since oil,the nation major source of income was selling for $104 dollars at that time compared to now which hovers around $60 per barrel,it becomes imperative that the terms have to be renegotiated adding that disagreement over this has necessitated the unfortunate delay.
He also said that states should be held accountable for the crisis in the primary and secondary education system since the country’s constitution spells out the responsibility of the tiers of government he said the federal government resolve to pay the Paris club refund and bail out to states in order for them to meet their obligations to teachers on both levels adding that states still owing money should be held responsible for any salary arrears.
On prison congestion in the country,he said that only Kirikiri and IkoyI prisons are over-stretched saying this has necessitated the effort by the federal government to introduce reforms that would enable states build their own prisons that would reduce the congestion in prisons and the federal government to also build more prisons all over the country.
He said that on the average Nigerians with a population of arround 200 million with just 12,000 convicted prisoners fare better than Unitedcstes of 300 million with 3million prisoners while south Africa with a population of less than 40million has 12 000 convicted prisoners.

“What this means is that Nigerians are well behaved than the other countries with less people in jail” the vice president declared.
In answer to a question, Professor Osinbajo said at a time his office received an average of 32 business proposals per day for one employment creation idea or the other by brilliant people but added that since resources are limited,
the priposalscare being treated on the basis of available resources and viability .
