Mr. Remi Aboderin, the CEO of Frills and Thrills Promotion has called on corporate Nigerian to to support Gotv in the promtion of Nigerian boxing board of control (NBB of C) and boxers in the promotion in the country.
Aboderin who is the president of West African Board of Boxing Control said this in an interview with this reporter at the National Stadium, Surulere on Wednesday January 16,2018.
He praise GOtv and its chairman Mr Adewunmi Oginsansya for their efforts at trying to bring back the good old days of boxing in Nigeria when that aspect of sports was standing toe to toe in terms of popularity with football.
Aboderin who is also the Secretary General of Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NNBof C) also decried the lukewarm altitude of Nigerian sporting officials towards the GOTv boxing event.
” I had expected a situation where the sports minister physically attends the GOtV boxing event. But that is not so; I cannot be chasing after boxers at the same time be running after sports minister. I expect him to attend the event. I expect him to there in person because his presence there will bring corporate Nigerians who will want to reach him and then be a part of the GOtv event,” he said.
Aboderin said that the GOtv even is capable of pulling miliions of Nigerian youths off the unemployment market if the government gives it the attention it desrevers .
He disclosed that one of the boxers discovered at the boxing talent workshop held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, is doing well and competited in the recently held GOtv Boxing Night 17 held at the Tafawa Balewa Squarev Complex, Lagos.
Aboderin whom one of the boxers on his managerial stable said is responsible for his kits, rents and general up keeps, however, said he does not know how and where the money comes from, but said that the boxer’s father, the coach and others are part and pacel of the assistance.
He end the interview on the note that if government accords boxing its right of place, the good old days of Obisia Nwapa and others will return in Nigeria.
