The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) yesterday debunked allegations that its operatives raided the Abuja home of Atiku Abubakar’s sons.
The EFCC said in tweets that its operatives only searched apartment occupied by son of a former Governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji.
Meanwhile, sons of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar’s two children, Mustapha and Aliyu live in same compound with Orji’s son.
The raid has however been described by Atiku’s camp as an act of intimidation against him.
The former Vice President who spoke through Head of his media group, Mr. Paul Ibe said, EFCC conducted the search on the apartment where Aliyu and Mustapha live on Saturday.
According to Ibe, EFCC found nothing incriminating on Atiku’s sons.
He added that, “The search was an act of intimidation on Atiku as officials of the Muhammadu Buhari government perceived the PDP presidential candidate as their ‘tormentor-in-chief.’
After having arrested the son of Theodore Orji, they asked him to lead them to the residence of Atiku’s children. He said he did not know them. The EFCC searched the house.”
