2019: Ogun Speaker faces impeachment

1072

Some All Progressives Congress (APC), legislators in the Ogun State House of Assembly have threatened to impeach the Speaker of the house, Hon. Suraju Adekunbi if he dared decamp from the ruling APC.
Hon. Adekunbi is one of the “consensus” candidates of Governor Ibikunle Amosun said to be planning to join another party to contest the 2019 polls after failing to secure the ticket of the APC.
Newdawnngr reliably gathered that a ranking member of the House known for his outspoken nature went to the Speaker at the weekend to warn him about his plans to decamp adding that he would just be impeached.
He was said to have told the Speaker that decamping would automatically mean that he can no longer enjoy the status of belonging to the majority party in the State House of Assembly and as such ineligible to be Speaker.
The speaker was said to have immediately responded that he would not be decamping because he would want to enjoy the privilege of being Speaker until his tenure as a legislator expires in June next year.
Hon. Adekunbi was planning to contest for the House Representative seat of Egbado North and Imeko Federal Constituency.
