Lagos State Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has reiterated his plan to stand for democracy and uphold its values to better the lot of Lagosians. The Governor however declined on a sensitive question.

Ambode in a World Press Conference in Lagos on Sunday afternoon addressed a mammoth crowd who had staged a rally along the popular Ikorodu road which culminated in Alausa, Ikeja.

The governor who is seeking a re-election for a second term in office refused to answer some questions Lagosians were eager to have explanations about.

When asked if he would fight on for the ticket of his All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 1st October governorship primary election, Ambode said, democracy must be practiced so that the nation can have something left for the next generation.

“If we say we are democrats, let us practice democracy and its values to the end, that is what we must bequeath to the generations coming after us,” he said.

Refusing to answer the questions thrown at him at the press conference, Ambode said, “These kind of questions you have asked I am not willing to answer them. The truth is that it is more about the progress and development of Nigeria, it is not about development and progress of Lagos.”

Stating further, he said, “I have done everything to make sure that those values are the values I preach and practice and God will help us.”

The Governor also congratulated Nigerians on the 58th independence anniversary and prayed for a peaceful country. “I congratulate Nigerians on the 58th independent anniversary and I pray we’ll remain happy for the rest of their lives,” he prayed.
