 Churches mobilise support for Leah Sharibu’s release

One of the abducted schoolgirl in a mass abduction by Boko Haram at Government Girls Secondary School,(GGSS) Dapchi, Nigeria, Leah Sharibu, in an audio tape plea for government and the world intervention in getting her out of the present predicament and also seeking help for her family.

Leah Sharibu, 15, who is a Christian, was forced to wear hijab according to  reports said, “I am the one named Leah Sharibu that was abducted in GGSSTC Dapchi. I am calling on the government and the world to help get me out of my current situation, and to help my mother, my father, my younger brother and relatives. Kindly help me out of my predicament. I am begging you to treat me with compassion, I am calling on the government, particularly, the president to pity me and get me out of this serious situation. I thank you.”

After receiving the heartening news of the just released proof of life audio recording, United States based, Nigeria Law Group Action, contacted the family to authenticate the purported message from Leah which has been conclusively established as her voice.

Following her message, USNLG pledges to support Leah Sharibu and her family with $3 a day for each day of her captivity in addition to what have been provided till the end of this year, urging people to respond to the 15 year old heroine’s cry by pledging a donation for each of the days of her captivity. 

However, the group task Federal Government to investigate recent revelations that  there was a scam perpetrated in the Dapchi “ransom” payment which has been a source of controversy between United Nations and Federal Government of Nigeria, also the deposed DG Lawal Daura be interrogated on his role.

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has been tasked with the duty to ensure churches play the voice recording of Leah across the nation this Sunday and prayers to be said for her.
