The Nigeria Police Force has disbursed N40.7 million to families of officers who died in the line of duty in Borno.
Mr Naziru Abdulmajid, Commissioner of Police in Borno, presented the cheques to beneficiaries under the Force’s Group Life Insurance Scheme.
ASP Nahum Daso, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Maiduguri.
Daso said the beneficiaries comprised next-of-kin and family members of police officers who lost their lives while serving the nation.

He said the initiative underscored the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families.
According to Daso, Abdulmajid, while presenting the cheques, conveyed the Inspector-General of Police’s message on prioritising officers’ welfare.
“The welfare of officers and their families remains a priority of the Force,” the commissioner said.
Abdulmajid described the Group Life Assurance Scheme as a demonstration of the IGP’s compassion, accountability and leadership.
He said the scheme honoured officers who sacrificed their lives for national peace and security.
The commissioner urged beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously to support education, healthcare and their families’ general wellbeing.
He appreciated the IGP for sustaining the scheme, describing it as an important mechanism for providing financial relief.
Abdulmajid said the scheme would also help provide greater financial stability to families of fallen officers.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Jones Madah thanked the I-G for the gesture.
Madah assured that the beneficiaries would use the funds prudently for the welfare and future needs of their families. (NAN)
