Fiery Evangelist and President of the Nigerian Pentecostal Fellowship (PFN), Bishop Francis Olubowale Oke has tackled the Nigerian Highest Legislative body – the Senate, on the proposed public preaching ban describing it as outrightly evil.
Speaking on a special telecast on Sunday, Bishop Wale Oke who is the Prelate of the Calvary Grace International College of Bishops in great anger said the proposed thoughts of the Senate is an unlawful decree and the Bible told us “woe to those who make an unlawful decree” stressing that “we will not obey them when they pass their decree”.
Said he: “Our Master told us to preach the Gospel to all nations, the early church were persecuted and told not to preach the Gospel. We will rather obey our God”.
Wale Oke who claims to lead over 65 million Christians and Preachers said, ” You are evil people making evil decrees, God will wipe you out. We will not obey you, we will obey our God. You did not go after killers, those beheading human beings, terrorists or bandits who carry unlawful weapons, kidnappers, rapists and other evil people but you are after us who preach the Gospel of Peace. Beware or we will place you under curses. You are there for a while”.
He told the Legislators to go and expand Government Prisons or turn their numerous stadium into prisons for the preachers because we wi ll preach with more vigour now. “We are not afraid of you”.

The Senate had on the 27th July 2026 denied that the proposed legislation is new. A statement from the office of the Senate Leader said, “It is about the safety of commuters and other road users and is not intended to undermine any religious activities in the public space”.
The statement had explained that the law is not new that it was a further consideration of the Federal Road Safety Corp Amendment Bill section 10(4) of 2007 preventing commuters distractions, prohibiting trading, hawking and preaching inside moving or stationary public commercial vehicles and it attracts a fine of 50,000:00 Naira.
The Senate Leader argued that the law presented by the House of Representatives is still under consideration and urged all stake holders to channel their views or grievances through appropriate legislative processes before its eventual passage.
Nigerians however believe that the Senate action coming at this time of Nation wide insecurity is in its self illegitimate distractation as the Senate should focus on terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and the like which has badly endangered the nation and affected our schools where school children were kept in the forest for more than a month.
Nigerians reacting to the Wale Oke speech want the Upper and Lower Legislative chambers to face embarrassing corruption at high levels and the economic hardship on the citizens they represent.
