Ekiti Guber Poll:Oyebanji in Early Lead as Collation of Results Continues

Results from the various units and wards of the 16 local governments are currently being collated after voters trooped out on Saturday to cast their votes in the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti state.

 

Already, some of the polling units have returned their results while others are still on their ways.

 

The Independent National Electoral Commission’s iREV the portal that displays outcomes of the election results has so far released about 87% of the total results as at 7:55pm on Saturday.

 

Majority of the results declared by INEC already have shown that that the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Biodun Oyebanji, is leading by a wide margin.

Although, some criticisms have trailed the exercise with some of the opposition candidates alleging vote-buying, violence, and other forms of intimidations, observers have come up with differing opinions on the exercise.

 

The Collation Centre is expected to go live any moment from now where results in each of the local government areas will be announced leading to the final declaration of the eventual winner.

 

There are indications that the declaration of the final winner may run into the early hours of Sunday as INEC officials put together the logistics for the final declaration.
