The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the killing of a mathematics teacher abducted alongside students and staff from three schools in Oyo State, accusing the administration of Bola Tinubu of failing to address the country’s worsening security situation.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the PDP described the incident as another sign of what it called the Federal Government’s “helplessness” in tackling insecurity across the country.
The opposition party stated that insecurity under the current administration has become a daily reality for many Nigerians, alleging that the government has failed to demonstrate either the capacity or political will to reverse the trend.
According to the PDP, the abduction and subsequent killing in Oyo State adds to a growing list of victims of kidnapping and banditry, warning that the situation has fuelled a thriving ransom economy that continues to impoverish citizens.

The party extended condolences to the families of the deceased teacher and other victims of the attack, while urging the Federal Government to move beyond what it described as “performative assurances” and instead implement practical, sustained and result-oriented security measures.
The PDP further warned that repeated attacks on schools pose a serious threat to the country’s educational system and future development, noting that Nigeria already faces one of the world’s highest numbers of out-of-school children.
It said continued attacks on educational institutions could discourage school attendance and worsen literacy challenges nationwide.
The party also criticised the government’s handling of student kidnappings, claiming that such incidents have become increasingly common under the ruling All Progressives Congress administration.
The PDP called on President Tinubu to channel greater effort toward strengthening national security architecture through political will, community engagement and institutional coordination.
The statement maintained that only a comprehensive and sustained approach to security would deliver the protection Nigerians have long demanded.
