Chairman, Community Development Committee of Agbado-Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Kasumi Olubowale has urged residents to switch off generators by 11.00 p.m. daily in line with a state government policy.

Olubowale told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview that the directive was not a council policy but a state initiative introduced during the administration of former Gov. Babatunde Fashola.

He said generators should be switched off by 11.00 p.m. to support security management and enable effective community vigilance.

Olubowale noted that the measure was not an inconvenience, as the council neither generated nor distributed electricity, adding that residents only needed to adjust within the stipulated time.

According to him, compliance is best monitored through Community Development Associations, as the council oversees over 2,700 streets with fewer than 300 police officers.

He added that generators should be switched off by 11.00 p.m. to allow residents, especially those with health conditions, to rest without noise disturbance.

Olubowale said noisy generators disrupt the serenity of the night, making it difficult for residents to sleep and hindering effective security patrols.

“My message to the community is to comply. This initiative is for the safety, security and well-being of everyone,” he said.

He urged residents to embrace order, noting that compliance would foster peace and prevent the community from sliding into disorder. (NAN)
