Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed the abduction of two of its staff members in the Ogun region.
The company disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, noting that the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
It said: “Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) confirms that two of its staff members in the Ogun region were abducted on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.”

The company expressed concern over the development and extended support to the affected families.
It said: “We are deeply concerned about this situation, and our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families at this difficult time.”
IBEDC said it is working with security agencies to secure the release of the abducted staff.
It said: “IBEDC is working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure the safe return of the affected staff.
“We are also in active engagement with their families, providing the necessary support.”
The company, however, declined to provide further details, citing the sensitivity of the situation.
It said: “Given the sensitive nature of this incident and ongoing efforts to resolve it, we are unable to provide further details at this time.”
IBEDC urged the public to remain understanding as efforts continue to resolve the situation.
It said: “We kindly request understanding and restraint as we prioritise the safety and well-being of those involved.
“We will provide updates as appropriate.”
