Ogun East APC stakeholders Meeting: How I was sidelined from attendance – Gbenga

Former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel

As predicted by the Frankly Speaking column  of Newdawnngr.com,it appears the emergence of Senator Solomon Adeola as Ohun Governorship candidate  of APC was a trade-off afterall.

This is because Senator Gbenga Daniel  was denied entry into the meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun East Senatorial District stakeholders’ meeting thereby tactically preventing him from contesting against Hovernor Aniodun who eventually got the senate slot.

The former governor, in a one-minute video, stated that he was at the Adeola Odutola Hall, Ijebu-Ode, the venue of the meeting scheduled to be held by 11.00am , one hour behind the scheduled time.

This development further confirmed the hostility between the former governor and the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who are both political leaders from the senatorial district.

Those invited at the meeting were former governors; national Assembly members both present and past among others.

The bus conveying Daniel was allegedly reported to have been blocked by the Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Babatunde Diya and one of the aides of Governor Abiodun, Hon Niyi Adeleye.

Adeleye, when contacted in a telephone interview, denied the allegation, saying the Senator was only instructed not to enter the meeting with his vehicle.

He confirmed that he was consulted by the accreditation team upon the senator’s arrival and maintained that there was no restriction on his entry.

“We didn’t prevent him, this venue is highly restricted because of security concerns. What we have said is that people should park their vehicles outside.

“So, you are now coming with a bus filed with people who am sure are not invited for this meeting.

“The instruction was to ‘get down from the vehicle and come inside as an individual who was invited to the meeting.’

“He refused; he insisted that he was coming in with his lorry with people who are not supposed to be in the meeting. We told him to get down from the vehicle and come inside as an individual,” he said.
