Iran executes 19-year-old Olympic wrestler, two others
Iran has executed a 19-year-old Olympic wrestler, Saleh Mohammadi, and two others.
The Olympic star and the two others: Mehdi Ghasemiand and Saeed Davoudi, were hanged until they died in the early hours of Thursday.
Mohammadi was killed in a public hanging, according to Iranian American human rights activists and dissidents.
Iran International reported that Mohammadi, Ghasemiand, and Davoudi were “accused of killing two police officers during nationwide protests earlier this year”.
Mizan news agency also reported that the judiciary passed the death verdict on the three men.

Authorities accused the men of using cold weapons, including swords, knives, and machetes, during the attack that led to the deaths of the officers.
Iran witnessed widespread protests in December, which escalated further in January.
The demonstrations were met with a forceful crackdown by authorities.
Mohammadi, a champion wrestler, is a member of the Iran national wrestling team.
