The Gospel Musicians of Nigeria on Friday lost an eminent singer and educationist in Evangelist Rachel Olatoun Soetan today Friday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
A publication on Instagram announced the passing of the legendary singer without mentioning the cause of her death but sister Soetan as she’s known in Christendom was born on 18th June 1954 and would have been 73 years next June.
Born in Lagos, sister Toun Soetan grew up in the famous Beere of Ibadan among 28 children in a Muslim Polygamous family.
She gave her life to Jesus Christ at a three day Crusade at Oritamefa Baptist Church, Ibadan in 1974. There she went up the ladder as a Baptist and teacher almost becoming the Head of the famous Oritamefa Baptist Schools until she was called by God to be a Gospel Musician.
Until her death today Friday 13th March 2026 lady Olatuon Soetan was still a Teacher at Pathfinder College, Samonda near the University of Ibadan.

She has a son, Ayobami Soetan (Light Child) who took the mantle of an indefatigable Minstrel from her biological mother.
Lady Toun Soetan’s Minstrel sojourn was academically studied. The title:

She taught this reporter on WORSHIP AND SPIRITUAL WAREFARE at the Diploma of The School of Deliverance and Healing (SODAH), Ibadan an arm of God Will Do It Ministries of the late Global Deliverance Minister, Rev. Dr. Gomba Fortune Oyor in 1995. She took that course for many years.
Sister Toun Soetan is survived by her husband and children and the Church of God in Nigeria is calling for fervent prayers for the family. It was gathered that the family may announce so soon burial rites for the daughter of Asaph, a dedicated worship family for Israel as she joins the Saints Triumphant.
