Man, 41, in court over alleged possession of electrical wires

A 41-year-old man, Akinola Jimoh, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged possession of electrical wires suspected to be stolen.
Jimoh, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of unlawful possession of electrical wires and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 10 at about 1.15 p.m. at Oke-Bola area in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that Jimoh had in his possession pieces of electrical wires reasonably suspected to have been stolen.
Adeniyi said the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by failing to give a reasonable account of how he obtained the wires.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 181(d) and 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The defence counsel, Mr Gboyega Abiola, urged the court to grant bail, promising that the defendant would not abscond.
The Chief Magistrate, Ms Dolapo Babalogbon, granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
She thereafter adjourned the case until April 9 for hearing. (NAN)
