…Nigeria Rumored For A Wild Card Chance to Attend the Party.
The draws for the 30th International World Hockey Federation championships slated for Germany between 13th to 31st January 2027, at six different venues will take place in Munich on the 10th of June 2026 Patmos Media Line has learnt.
According to the host Federation, Munich, Stuttgart, Magdeburg and Kiel will host the preliminary rounds; Cologne and Hannover will host the Main Rounds while Magdeburg will host the Presidents Cup which is less prestigious to being world champions per se.
The quarterfinals will be played 26th to 27th January 2027; semifinal will take place on the 29th while the 3rd place match will precede the grand finale on the 31st of January. Placement matches for 5-8th positions will be 29th and 31st and will be hosted at the Lynxes Arena in Cologne.
Already, Africa’s entries have been submitted to Germany. Egypt will lead the five teams which will include Tunisia, Cape Verde and Angola which overtook Nigeria in the 5th and 6th placements at the 2026 CAHB in Rwanda. It was the first time Angola would appear at the world cup finals since 2021 and their 6th appearance at the mundial.
Four names are on the bill for Asia namely Bahrain; Qatar; Kuwait and Japan.
Europe will have hosts Germany; current world champions Denmark; Iceland; Croatia; Portugal and Sweden.
South and Central America has Argentina; Brazil; Chile and Uruguay. Later the winner of the North America and Caribbean Men’s Handball Championship from the playoff in May 2026 will join and there will be two wild cards to fill up the 32 nations that will battle for world honors. Patmos Media Line could not confirm the rumor that Nigeria will be given a wild card chance.
Current Champions Denmark will on request by the German Handball Federation play in group G in Kiel which is close to their country border for their teeming supporters to attend.
Meanwhile 3,308 goals were scored in the 56 matches played at HACON in Rwanda where Egypt came tops winning her 19th title equaling the record of Tunisia that won the Silver; Cape Verde that won the Bronze; and Algeria the 4th place country. There was a total 34,400 fans at the stands which show that Handball needs more acceptances from the general public.

Felix Kambudu was highest goal scorer with 49 goals. Other scorers with 40 goals and above were Yves Kayvamche of Rwanda with 46 goals; Nathan Paquino from Gabon 45 goals; Cherubin Tabanques also of Gabon 44 goals; Mohammed Emad of Egypt and Amjad Saa of Saa of Morocco 42 goals each while Christopher Mayende of Kenya scored 41 goals.
The three topmost goalkeepers in the Rwanda tournament were Abdelrahaman Homayed of Egypt who was scored 47% with 27 saves; Ibrahim Kone of Gabon was second with 44% and 17 saves and 3rd was Mohammed Aly also of Egypt who was scored 41% but had stunning 45 saves. Nigeria’s Solomon Michael placed 7th best goalkeeper with36% and inexplicable 71 saves.
