The Department of State Services (DSS), on Monday, amended the criminal charge it filed against Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, and co-defendants over alleged false claim against President Bola Tinubu.

The DSS lawyer, Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, informed Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja shortly after the case was called for commencement of trial.

Kehinde then pleaded that the two-count amended charge be read to Sowore, who is the sole defendant in the fresh charge.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that though Sowore, X Incorp (formerly Twitter) and Meta (Facebook) Incorp were earlier named in the charge as 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants respectively, in the amended charge, the names of 2nd and 3rd defendants were dropped.

After the counts were read to Sowore, he pleaded not guilty.

Sowore, the 2019 and 2023 presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC), is being charged for alleged cyberstalking of President Tinubu using his X handle and Facebook page.(NAN)
